Downtown Ocho Rios, St. Ann
Ocho Rios Bay Beach -- known locally as Turtle Beach -- is the main public beach along the Ocho Rios waterfront, running for about a quarter-mile from Island Village east past the Moon Palace Jamaica resort property and the Turtle River estuary. The sand is coarse and golden, the water calm and shallow within a protected reef, and the beach itself serves as the default afternoon option for cruise passengers, Ocho Rios day-trippers, and resort guests wanting an hour outside the resort gates.
The beach has a boardwalk, several small bar shacks, kayak and snorkel rentals, and an on-site security presence during daytime hours. The eastern end toward the Turtle River is quieter; the western end nearest Island Village is busier and closer to the cruise ship activity.
Drive time from OCJ is 20 minutes; from MBJ it is 2 hours via the North Coast Highway. The Ochi Luxe Van is the standard vehicle. Most Ocho Rios Bay Beach visits are combined with Island Village and a Dunn's River morning on a Quarter Day chauffeur at $450 for three hours in the right vehicle for your party. Compare tours and excursions for combined Ocho Rios days, and find a nearby stay for the bay-front Moon Palace or Decameron properties. Villas above Ocho Rios run Starlink when fibre cannot reach.
The beach works best before 11 a.m. or after 3 p.m.; the midday cruise-day peak is busy.
