Downtown Ocho Rios, St. Ann
Blue Hole in Ocho Rios -- also marketed as Secret Falls or Island Gully Falls -- is a sequence of small limestone waterfalls and natural turquoise pools about 20 minutes inland from the Mammee Bay resort strip. Unlike the better-known Dunn's River Falls, Blue Hole is not a tiered climb but a set of discrete pools linked by rope swings, small cliff jumps (12 to 25 feet), and a short forest trail. The water is cold, intensely blue-green where the sun catches it, and the atmosphere is closer to a natural swimming hole than a staged attraction.
Local guides run the site on a small fee basis. The standard circuit takes 90 minutes to two hours and includes three to four pools, one or two rope-swing stations, and a guided descent to the lower cave waterfall. The hike back to the car park is mildly steep.
Drive time from OCJ is 30 minutes; from MBJ via the North Coast Highway it is 2 hours. The Ochi Luxe Van is the house vehicle for the route. Most Blue Hole visits are combined with Dunn's River Falls in a single morning on a Quarter Day chauffeur at $450 for three hours in the right vehicle for your party, or extended to Konoko Falls and the Mystic Mountain rainforest bobsled on a Half Day at $800. Compare tours and excursions for combined waterfall days, and find a nearby stay for Mammee Bay all-inclusives or a Boscobel villa. Villas in the hills above Ocho Rios commonly run Starlink.
Wear water shoes. The limestone is slippery and the rope swings are not padded.
