YIU is a code associated with Yiwu, a city in Zhejiang Province in eastern China. Although styled as an airport code, it refers to Yiwu's railway station, an important stop on China's rail network. Yiwu is famous worldwide for commerce: it is home to the vast Yiwu International Trade Market, often described as the world's largest wholesale market for small commodities, a sprawling complex where buyers from around the globe source everything from toys and jewellery to household goods. The city has grown enormously on this trade and has a large international community of traders.
