This harbour town is the long way from Sangster, and that distance is the point. People who come here want the twin harbours, the Blue Lagoon, and a slower week. Frenchman's Cove is the famous river meeting the sea. Reach Falls is a separate soaked morning. Boston Bay is the jerk stop people mean when they say the east has the original pit.
Do not try the lagoon, the falls, and a raft on the Rio Grande in one date. The roads are narrow and beautiful and slow. Pick one water and one meal. The Navy Island view and the Folly ruins are the short walk version if everyone is tired of driving.
Rooms are smaller inns more often than giant resorts. Check that the place you want actually has availability for your dates, because the inventory is thin. A kitchenette helps. Dinner choices are fewer than in the big resort towns, and they are better when you arrive before the kitchen closes.
The Rio Grande bamboo raft is a half-day with a raftsman. It is quiet. It floods after heavy rain, so have a second plan. The lagoon is a swim and a boat, not a hike. Reef shoes again, because the entry rocks are uneven.
ATMs are limited. Bring notes from Kingston or from Sangster before you commit to the east. Cards work in some inns and fail in others. A pharmacy is basic. For anything serious, the capital is far. Travel insurance is a decision to make before this hop, not during it.
Evenings are the harbour and early nights. Music exists. It is not the Hip Strip. If that is what you wanted, you are in the wrong parish, and the drive back will prove it.
One water, then the harbour
Carry a paper map screenshot. Signal drops on the east road, and the view is not a moment for troubleshooting.
