Uvol is a small coastal settlement on the south coast of the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea, in the country's islands region, with a local airstrip serving the surrounding area. It lies in a remote stretch of coast backed by rainforest and mountains, a district of scattered villages, rivers and reef, well off the main routes and far from the larger towns of New Britain. This is not a developed tourist destination and has minimal services, of interest mainly for its remote coastal and forest setting and traditional cultures rather than any particular attractions. Uvol is reached chiefly by light aircraft to its airstrip and by boat along the coast, so any journey here needs local arrangements and up-to-date advice. The climate is hot, humid and tropical, with heavy rainfall for much of the year.
