Car rental at Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ) is concentrated and competitive: desks on the first floor of the terminal - several directly across from the arrivals exit - serve a deep line-up including Europcar, Avis, Budget, Sixt, Green Motion, Alamo, Enterprise and regional operators such as Auto-Union, CARWIZ and Global Rent-a-Car, with the cars parked just outside the building. Sixt has kept long daily desk hours, and most operators align staffing with the flight schedule. From the airport it is a short drive into Sarajevo's valley, and the road network fans out toward Mostar, Jahorina and Bjelasnica - mountain country where winter tyres and unhurried driving matter from late autumn. Book ahead for automatics, which thin out fast in Bosnian fleets.
