Three Destination Zones, Not Just "Ocho Rios"
The Ocho Rios area is not one destination. It is three distinct zones, each with different resorts, different vibes, and different transfer prices from MBJ.
Mammee Bay
The first major resort cluster east of MBJ along the north coast. Mammee Bay sits between Dunn's River Falls and St. Ann's Bay, roughly 60-75 minutes from the airport.

Tower Isle, St. Mary

The MBJ to Ocho Rios Drive
The north coast highway from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios is one of Jamaica's most scenic drives. Here is what to expect.
The Route
Your driver takes the A1 highway east from MBJ, passing through or bypassing Rose Hall, Greenwood, Falmouth, Discovery Bay, Runaway Bay, and St. Ann's Bay before reaching the Ocho Rios area. The road hugs the coast for long stretches, offering views of the Caribbean Sea, fishing villages, and lush hillsides.
The Drive Time
Drive times vary based on traffic, time of day, and road conditions. Morning arrivals (before 10 AM) and evening arrivals (after 5 PM) typically experience lighter traffic. Mid-afternoon arrivals during peak season may encounter heavier traffic through Falmouth and St. Ann's Bay.
What You Will See
The first 30 minutes of the drive pass through the Montego Bay resort corridor -- Rose Hall's luxury hotels, the green hills of Greenwood, and the fishing village of Falmouth with its Georgian architecture.
After Falmouth, the road opens up. You will pass Discovery Bay (where Columbus supposedly first landed), the entrance to Green Grotto Caves, and the Runaway Bay resort strip. From Runaway Bay, the coastline curves past Seville Heritage Park toward St. Ann's Bay -- the birthplace of Marcus Garvey.
The final stretch into Ocho Rios passes Dunn's River Falls on the left and descends into the town. If your destination is Mammee Bay, your driver exits before downtown. If you are continuing to Tower Isle, you pass through the town and out the eastern side.

Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ) sits in Boscobel, just east of Ocho Rios. It serves select flights from the US and other Caribbean islands. If you can route your flights through OCJ, the transfer picture changes dramatically:
The $80 transfer from OCJ to Tower Isle is the cheapest transfer route on the entire island. And instead of a 90-minute drive, you are at your resort in 15 minutes.
OCJ is smaller than MBJ -- your driver meets you right outside the arrivals area rather than in the meet and greet area. But the transfer is still a full Aurum experience: Starlink WiFi, cold water, professional driver, and flight tracking.
