WTP is the airport code for Woitape, a small settlement and airstrip in the mountains of the Central Province of Papua New Guinea, in the rugged highlands inland from the capital, Port Moresby. It lies high in the Owen Stanley Range, in cool, forested mountain country of ridges, valleys and villages, home to traditional communities, and near the historic country crossed by the famous Kokoda Track. This is not a developed tourist destination and has minimal services, of interest mainly for its remote mountain setting and cultures, and as part of the wider trekking country of the range. Woitape is reached chiefly by light aircraft to its airstrip, weather permitting, and by rough mountain roads and tracks, so any journey here needs local arrangements. The climate is cool and often wet in the mountains, with heavy rainfall through much of the year.
