Vallemi is a town in the north of Paraguay, in the department of Concepcion, on the Paraguay river in a remote part of the country near the border with Brazil. It is best known as an industrial town built around cement production, home to the country's main cement works, which use the limestone of the area, in a landscape of river, low hills and the fringes of the Cerrado and Chaco. It is a working town rather than a tourist destination, of interest as a river port and industrial centre in a little-visited region of northern Paraguay, where the great Paraguay river winds through remote countryside. Vallemi is reached by river and by long roads through the north of the country. The climate is hot and subtropical, with a wetter, hotter summer and a milder, drier season.
