TIV is the airport code for Tivat Airport, the main gateway to the Adriatic coast of Montenegro, on the Bay of Kotor in the country's southwest. One of Montenegro's two international airports, alongside Podgorica, it sits just outside the town of Tivat and handles busy, seasonal summer traffic to the coast. The airport is a short drive from some of the region's star attractions: the Porto Montenegro marina in Tivat itself, the UNESCO-listed old town of Kotor with its dramatic fjord-like bay, and the beaches and nightlife of Budva just south. The surrounding Boka, or Bay of Kotor, is a spectacular landscape of steep mountains dropping to a sheltered blue bay dotted with old Venetian towns. Tivat is reached by flights that multiply in summer, with taxis, transfers and car hire onward to the resorts. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters.
