Miyanmin is a remote settlement in the Sandaun, or West Sepik, Province of Papua New Guinea, in the far northwest of the country, in the foothills and lowlands south of the great Sepik river basin. It lies in isolated, densely forested country, home to the Miyanmin people, one of the many distinct groups of this remote region, living by hunting, gathering and gardening in the rainforest. This is not a tourist destination and has minimal services, of interest for its remoteness and traditional cultures rather than any developed attractions. Miyanmin is reached chiefly by light aircraft to a grass airstrip, weather permitting, as there is essentially no road access to this part of the country, and any journey here needs careful local arrangements. The climate is hot, humid and very wet, with heavy rainfall through much of the year, typical of the forests of northwestern Papua New Guinea.
