Midgard is a country estate and nature reserve set in the Otjihavera Mountains of central Namibia, about 85 kilometres northeast of the capital Windhoek and roughly 70 kilometres from Hosea Kutako International Airport. Dating back to a farm established in 1937, it sits within a private reserve of around 2,000 hectares along the Swakop River, making it a convenient first or last stop for travelers exploring the country. The reserve is home to plains wildlife such as giraffe, blue and black wildebeest, oryx, kudu, hartebeest, eland, warthog and baboon, which can be seen on nature drives and walking trails through the hills. The setting is peaceful and scenic, a green pocket in the dry Namibian highveld. Midgard is reached by road from Windhoek and its international airport. The climate is warm and dry, with most rain falling in summer from around November to April.
