ERS is the airport code for Eros Airport, the smaller, more central of the two airports serving Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, in the country's central highlands. Eros lies just a few kilometres south of the city centre and handles mainly domestic and light-aircraft flights, and it is from here that many of the charter and fly-in safari flights set off across Namibia. The larger Hosea Kutako International Airport, some way east of the city, handles the international and long-haul flights. Windhoek itself is a pleasant, orderly capital set among hills at over 1,600 metres, with a mix of German colonial and modern African architecture, and it is the main gateway to Namibia's deserts, dunes and wildlife. Windhoek is reached through both of its airports and by long, well-kept roads. The climate is mild and dry, with warm days, cool nights and a short summer rainy season.
