Kooddoo is an airport island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, part of the large Huvadhoo Atoll in the far south of the Maldives, and its airport (GKK) is the main gateway to the region. Travelers reach it on a domestic flight of about 55 minutes from Male's Velana International Airport, after which resorts arrange speedboat transfers to their islands. Gaafu Alifu is one of the largest atolls in the Maldives and among the biggest natural atolls in the world, valued for being remote, pristine and far less crowded than the atolls closer to the capital. It is known for excellent diving and snorkelling on healthy reefs, clear water and a cluster of luxury resorts and smaller guesthouses on local islands. The Maldives is warm year-round, with a drier season from roughly December to April and a wetter, windier southwest monsoon.
