Kabala is a town in the highlands of northern Sierra Leone, capital of Koinadugu District and, at a cooler elevation than the coast, a relief from the country's lowland heat. It is set among the Wara Wara Mountains, whose flat-topped peaks rise above the town and offer some of the most accessible hiking in Sierra Leone. Kabala is well known nationally for its lively New Year celebrations on Gbawuria Hill.
