Step 1: Immigration at MBJ
After deplaning, follow signs for Immigration. You will need your passport, a completed Customs and Immigration C5D form (available on the plane or at MBJ), and your return ticket or proof of onward travel. Queue times vary from 10 minutes (off-peak) to 45 minutes (peak arrival banks). US citizens, EU nationals, and UK nationals do not need a visa for Jamaica.
Step 2: Baggage claim
Collect your bags from the carousel. Belt numbers are posted on screens in the arrivals hall. MBJ has 6 carousels. Baggage claim typically takes 15-25 minutes after landing.
Step 3: Customs declaration
Complete the customs declaration form (C5D) on the plane if available. Declare any amounts over USD $10,000 in cash, gifts worth over JMD $75,000, and restricted items. Most tourists pass straight through the green channel.
Step 4: Finding your Aurum driver
Exit customs and walk into the arrivals hall. Your Aurum Transfers driver will be immediately visible with a professionally printed name board with your name. They are positioned at the designated meeting area inside the terminal β not outside in the heat. Confirm your driver's name against your booking confirmation.
What not to do at MBJ arrivals
Do not accept assistance from people offering to carry bags β they will request payment. Do not respond to unsolicited transport offers in the arrivals hall. Use only your pre-booked transfer or the official taxi rank. Do not exchange currency inside the terminal at the first kiosk you see β rates are poor.
