XHA is a code associated with Yllas, one of the great fell and ski resorts of Finnish Lapland, in the municipality of Kolari in the far north of Finland. Rather than a major airport, it refers to the transport hub at the village of Yllasjarvi, at the foot of the Yllas fell; the nearest airport is Kittila, a little to the east, with an airport bus running on to Yllas. Yllas is the second-largest ski resort in Lapland, set within the beautiful Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park, with its rounded fells and forests. It is a place for downhill and cross-country skiing in the long winter, and for hiking, autumn colours and the northern lights, with two resort villages, Yllasjarvi and Akaslompolo, on either side of the fell. Yllas is reached by air to Kittila and then by road, and by train to nearby Kolari. The climate is subarctic, with long, cold, snowy winters and short, cool summers.
