ULE is the airport code for Sule, a small settlement and airstrip on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea, in the Bismarck Archipelago, in the eastern part of the island not far from the region around Rabaul and Kokopo. It lies in a coastal and hill area of the Gazelle Peninsula region, a landscape of rainforest, plantations, volcanoes and reef, home to traditional communities. This is not a developed tourist destination and has minimal services, of interest mainly for its remote setting and the cultures of the region rather than any particular attractions, though the wider East New Britain area is known for its dramatic volcanoes and wartime history around Rabaul. Sule is reached chiefly by light aircraft to its airstrip and by road and boat in the region. The climate is hot, humid and tropical, with heavy rainfall for much of the year.
