UBN is the airport code for Chinggis Khaan International Airport, the main international airport of Mongolia, serving the capital, Ulaanbaatar. Opened in 2021, it lies in the Khushig Valley in Tov Province, about 50 kilometres south of the city, replacing the older Buyant-Ukhaa airport closer to the centre. It is the country's largest and busiest air gateway, with flights across Asia and Europe and to domestic destinations. From here, visitors reach Ulaanbaatar, a fast-changing capital where Soviet-era buildings, Buddhist monasteries such as Gandan and reminders of Chinggis Khaan sit side by side, and beyond it the great Mongolian landscapes: the rolling steppe, the Gobi Desert, and national parks like Terelj with nomadic herders and ger camps. The airport is linked to the city by a dedicated expressway. The climate is sharply continental, with warm summers and extremely cold winters.
