TSK is the airport code for Taskul, a small airstrip and settlement in the northwest of New Ireland, one of the island provinces of Papua New Guinea, in the Bismarck Archipelago. New Ireland is a long, narrow, mountainous island known for its beautiful coastline, reefs and traditional cultures, including the famous malagan carvings and ceremonies of the region. Taskul lies in the Tikana area at the island's northern end, a remote district of coastal villages, coconut plantations and rainforest, well off the main routes. It is not a developed tourist destination, of interest mainly for its remote island setting and cultures. Taskul is reached chiefly by light aircraft to its airstrip and by boat and road along the island, with the provincial capital, Kavieng, to the north. The climate is hot, humid and tropical, with heavy rainfall for much of the year.
