TRU is the airport code for Trujillo Airport, officially Capitan FAP Carlos Martinez de Pinillos International Airport, serving the city of Trujillo on the north coast of Peru. Trujillo, the capital of the La Libertad region, is an elegant colonial city known as the City of Eternal Spring for its mild climate, and it is the gateway to some of Peru's greatest ancient sites. Nearby stand the ruins of Chan Chan, the vast adobe capital of the Chimu kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Moche pyramids of the Huacas del Sol y de la Luna, with their vivid painted murals. On the coast just outside the city, the fishing and surfing village of Huanchaco is famous for its reed boats, the caballitos de totora. Trujillo is reached by flights from Lima to its airport and by road along the coast. The climate is warm and dry for much of the year, with coastal cloud in winter.
