Nargana, known in the Guna language as Yandup, is a small island community in Guna Yala, the autonomous Indigenous territory on Panama's Caribbean coast better known to outsiders as the San Blas Islands. It is one of the most developed and westernized islands in the archipelago, a compact, densely built island linked by a concrete bridge to the neighbouring island of Corazon de Jesus, with a school and a small hospital. Guna Yala is home to the Indigenous Guna people, who govern the region and maintain strong traditions, including the famous handmade mola textiles, and visitors should respect local rules and pay community fees. The wider San Blas archipelago is renowned for its palm-covered islets and clear Caribbean water. Nargana is reached by small aircraft to a nearby airstrip or by boat and road from the Panama City side. The climate is tropical and warm year-round.
