Namdrik, also spelled Namorik, is a small, remote coral atoll in the Ralik, or sunset, chain of the Marshall Islands, in the central Pacific Ocean, to the south of the country. It is one of the smaller and more isolated atolls, a ring of low, palm-covered islets around a lagoon, home to a small community living traditionally by fishing, and growing coconuts and other crops. Namdrik is known for its strong traditional culture and its efforts in conservation and sustainable living, having been recognised for community-led work protecting its environment, from its giant clams to its pandanus and black pearls. It is a quiet, low-lying atoll with no tourism to speak of. Namdrik is reached by infrequent small aircraft and by boat from the capital, Majuro, so a visit needs planning. The climate is tropical, warm year-round, and the atoll is very low-lying and vulnerable to the sea.
