MOL is the airport code for Molde, a coastal town in the Romsdal district of western Norway, set on the Romsdalsfjord and served by Molde Airport at Aro. Known as the Town of Roses for its mild gardens, Molde is famous above all for the Molde Panorama, a sweeping view from the hills above town across the fjord to a jagged line of 222 mountain peaks, the Romsdal Alps. The town hosts the renowned Molde International Jazz Festival each summer, one of Europe's oldest jazz events. Molde also makes an excellent base for exploring some of Norway's most dramatic scenery, including the famous Atlantic Road, the Trollstigen mountain pass and the deep fjords and peaks around Andalsnes. It is reached by air to Molde Airport, or by road and ferry along the fjord coast. Summers are cool and long-lit; winters are cold and snowy.
