Mindik is a small settlement in the mountains of the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea, on the Huon Peninsula, in the rugged interior highlands of the region. It is a remote local centre for scattered villages in a landscape of steep forested ranges, valleys and high country, home to traditional communities, some known for their Lutheran mission heritage. This is not a tourist destination and has minimal services, of interest mainly for its remote mountain setting and cultures rather than any attractions. Mindik is reached chiefly by light aircraft to a grass airstrip, weather permitting, and by demanding mountain tracks, and any journey here needs local arrangements and time. The climate is cool and wet in the highlands, with heavy rainfall through much of the year, typical of the interior mountains of Papua New Guinea.
