LHU is the airport code for Lianshulu, an airstrip in the far northeast of Namibia, in the Zambezi region, formerly known as the Caprivi Strip, a narrow finger of land reaching east between neighbouring countries. Unlike the deserts of much of Namibia, this is a green, well-watered region of rivers, wetlands, floodplains and woodland, part of a great cross-border area of wildlife and waterways where several rivers and countries meet. The airstrip serves the safari lodges and communities of the area, near Mudumu National Park and the Kwando river, in a region rich in wildlife including elephants, hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. It is a gateway to a remote and beautiful corner of Namibia. Lianshulu is reached by light aircraft to its airstrip and by roads through the Zambezi region. The climate is warm, with a wet summer and a drier winter.
