Kindamba is a town in the southeast of the Republic of the Congo, in the Pool region, in the hilly country inland from the capital, Brazzaville. It stands at a higher elevation than the surrounding lowlands, which gives it a slightly cooler, fresher climate, in a green landscape of forested hills, plateau and river valleys in the heart of the country. Kindamba was once a busy regional town, one of the main centres of the Pool region, but it was badly affected by the conflict that struck this part of the country in the 1990s, and much of the town and its life were disrupted. Today it remains a modest local centre in a remote and beautiful upland region. Kindamba is reached by roads through the hills from Brazzaville, and is a remote place, so travel needs planning and current advice. The climate is tropical, softened by the altitude, with a wet and a drier season.
