Kavanayen is a remote village in the Gran Sabana, in the far southeast of Venezuela, deep within the great Canaima National Park in the state of Bolivar. It is an indigenous village, home mainly to the Pemon people, and was founded as a Capuchin mission in the 1940s, its old stone mission church standing out in this wild landscape.
