Jingdezhen is a city in northeastern Jiangxi Province, China, known worldwide as the Porcelain Capital for more than a thousand years of ceramic production. It is served by Jingdezhen Luojia Airport (JDZ) and by high-speed rail, with easy connections from Nanchang, Shanghai and Hangzhou. The city supplied porcelain to China's imperial court for centuries, and its heritage is on display at sites such as the Imperial Kiln Museum, the Ancient Kiln folk village where traditional wares are still fired, and the Taoxichuan arts district built around old factory kilns. The word kaolin, the fine white clay used in porcelain, comes from nearby Gaoling. Today Jingdezhen draws artists, collectors and students of ceramics from around the world, and its markets and studios stay busy year-round. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons to visit.
