Fakahina is a small, remote coral atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia, in the South Pacific, far to the east of Tahiti. It is a classic low atoll, a ring of coral and palm-covered islets around a lagoon, with a small community living on the main village, sustained by fishing, coconuts and the traditional life of the Tuamotus. Fakahina is one of the more isolated and rarely visited atolls of this vast, scattered archipelago, without resorts or tourism, of interest for its remoteness, its lagoon and reef, and its authentic island life.
