DOC is a code associated with Dornoch, a small and historic town on the east coast of the Scottish Highlands, in the county of Sutherland in the far north of Scotland. Set on a sunny stretch of coast by the Dornoch Firth, the town is famous above all for golf: the Royal Dornoch Golf Club is regularly ranked among the finest links courses in the world. Dornoch also has a charming little medieval cathedral, a historic centre of stone houses, and long sandy beaches and dunes nearby. It makes a peaceful base for exploring the northern Highlands, with their mountains, castles and coastline. Dornoch has only a small airfield; most visitors arrive via Inverness Airport to the south, or by road and rail through the Highlands.
