CYC is the airport code for the airstrip on Caye Chapel, a small private island off the coast of Belize, in the Caribbean, lying just south of the popular island of Caye Caulker and north of Belize City. Caye Chapel is a low, sandy island fringed by white beaches, set behind the great Belize Barrier Reef, part of the Mesoamerican Reef, the second-longest barrier reef in the world and a magnet for diving and snorkelling. The island is a private resort island, with an airstrip and a golf course, being developed as an exclusive retreat, and lies within easy reach of the reef, the cayes and famous dive sites of Belize. Caye Chapel is reached by small aircraft to its airstrip and by boat from Belize City and the nearby cayes. The climate is warm and tropical, with a hurricane season later in the year.
