One of the oldest cities in Venezuela, founded in 1527, Coro has a beautifully preserved colonial old town of earthen and colourful buildings, churches and cobbled streets, which, together with its nearby port of La Vela, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the finest colonial ensembles on the continent.
