Alamarvdasht is a small town in the south of Iran, in the Lamerd county of Fars province, in a hot, dry region of the southern Iranian plateau not far inland from the Persian Gulf. It is the centre of a rural district of scattered villages, in a landscape of arid plains, low hills and desert, in one of the warmer and more remote corners of Fars. Alamarvdasht is a modest local town rather than a tourist destination, serving the surrounding farming and pastoral communities of the south. The wider Fars province is one of the historic heartlands of Iran, home to great cities and ancient sites further to the north. Alamarvdasht is reached by road across the south of Fars and by a local airport. Because travel to Iran can be affected by conditions, travelers should check their government's current advice.
