Madeira Airport, officially Cristiano Ronaldo International, serves the Portuguese island of Madeira, and its lounge picture has an important twist worth knowing: there is a good lounge, but it does not accept Priority Pass. Instead, access is by airline cabin, loyalty cards, or a reasonable pay-in fee at the door.
The ANA Lounge at Madeira
Madeira's lounge is the ANA Lounge, on Level 3 of the terminal in the departures area, after security. It is open daily from early morning to evening, roughly 6am to 9pm, with a maximum stay of three hours. It offers a varied selection of snacks and light meals, cold and hot drinks including the island's traditional Madeira wine, high-speed Wi-Fi, work areas, television, international newspapers, and flight-information screens, making it a genuinely comfortable place to wait.
Access methods, and no Priority Pass
This is the key point for Madeira: no lounge here currently accepts Priority Pass, so do not rely on a Priority Pass for the ANA Lounge. Access is for passengers travelling in business class or holding loyalty cards from partner airlines, or by buying an individual access pass at the lounge reception, recently around thirty euros, or booking in advance through the official ANA Aeroportos website. So for most leisure travellers, the pay-in route is how you get in.
Amenities and tips
The ANA Lounge is a pleasant spot before a flight, with proper food, drinks including Madeira wine, Wi-Fi, and work areas, and the pay-in fee is reasonable compared with many European lounges. Because the maximum stay is three hours and the lounge closes in the evening, confirm it is open for your flight time and plan your visit around boarding. If it is full or closed, the airside cafes are the fallback. Use the comparison below to weigh a business-class or loyalty entry against the pay-in pass for your trip.
