Kasos is the southernmost island of the Dodecanese in Greece, a small, rocky and unspoiled place lying between Karpathos and Crete. It sees few visitors, which is much of its charm: whitewashed villages, a working fishing harbor, quiet coves and a strong seafaring tradition. The main settlement, Fry, sits on the north coast near the little port and airport. From here, boats reach the uninhabited islet of Armathia with its pale sandy beaches, while the remote Helatros bay lies at the island's southern end below the Hodegetria monastery. Kasos is reached by ferry from Karpathos, Rhodes and Crete, or by small domestic flights that connect through Karpathos or Rhodes. The island is at its best in late spring and summer, though it stays quieter than its better-known neighbors.
