Cootamundra is a country town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia, on the rail and road routes between Sydney and the state's south-west. It is best known as the birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman, the legendary cricketer, whose preserved birthplace cottage is a heritage attraction, complemented by a captains-walk of Australian cricket captains in the town. Cootamundra also lends its name to the Cootamundra wattle, a golden-flowering acacia native to the district and now planted widely. A historic railway town set amid the wheat-and-sheep country of the South West Slopes, it offers heritage streetscapes, parks and a relaxed rural character. It sits within easy reach of the Riverina's other towns and is a pleasant stop on the inland routes. The climate has warm-to-hot summers and cool winters; spring, when the wattle blooms, is especially attractive.
