SDW is the airport code for Sindhudurg Airport, also known as Chipi Airport, on the beautiful Konkan coast of Maharashtra in western India. A modern airport opened in recent years, it is the aerial gateway to the Sindhudurg district, one of the loveliest stretches of India's western coastline, a region of palm-fringed beaches, forts and clear seas. Close by are the popular beaches of Tarkarli and the town of Malvan, known for their white sands, watersports and some of the best scuba diving in India, and the famous island sea fort of Sindhudurg, built out in the sea by the Maratha ruler Shivaji. It is a green, coastal region of fishing villages and coconut groves. Sindhudurg Airport is reached by flights from Mumbai and other cities, and the district by the coastal roads and railway of the Konkan. The climate is hot and humid, tropical, with a heavy monsoon in the middle of the year.
