FZL is the airport code for Fuzuli International Airport, in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, in the South Caucasus. Opened in 2021, it was the first airport built by Azerbaijan in the territory it regained control of after the 2020 conflict, and it stands as a symbol of the region's reconstruction. The airport serves as a gateway toward the historic town of Shusha, reached by the newly built road sometimes called the Victory Road, and to the wider Karabakh area, a mountainous land of towns, villages and countryside now being rebuilt. Because this is a recently contested region, travelers should check their government's current advice and entry rules before planning any trip. Fuzuli lies roughly 300 kilometres from the capital, Baku, to which it is linked by air and by new roads. The climate is continental, with warm summers and cool winters.
