Half Moon Beach at Bloody Bay is the unmarked crescent sitting just east of the Hedonism II resort, accessible by a short walk from the public path off Norman Manley Boulevard or by kayak from any Bloody Bay resort beach. The beach is named for its perfect half-moon shape, and the water there runs noticeably calmer than the main Seven Mile strip -- shallow, sand-bottomed, and clear enough to see the ripple patterns on the sea floor 20 feet out. It is the locals' pick for a weekend beach with children.
The beach has no formal facilities. There is a small reggae bar operating most afternoons, and a fisherman's shack on the eastern headland that sells fresh-grilled lobster when the catch is running. The protected bay makes it an excellent snorkelling base for beginners -- the coral heads start just past the sandbar and run east toward Booby Cay in 15 to 25 feet of water.
Drive time from MBJ is 75 to 85 minutes on the A1. The Reggae Ride Wagon handles couples and small groups comfortably. Most Half Moon visits are bundled with a Rhodes Hall Plantation stop and a Negril lighthouse sunset on a Half Day chauffeur package at $800 for six hours in the right vehicle for your party. Compare tours and excursions for a multi-beach Negril day, and find a nearby stay for Bloody Bay boutiques that sit within walking distance. Beachfront villas in this corner of Negril commonly run Starlink.
The beach peaks in the cool hours before 11 a.m. and after 3 p.m.
