SBL is the code for the airport at Santa Ana del Yacuma, a town in the Beni department of northeastern Bolivia, in the vast tropical lowlands of the country. Santa Ana is the capital of Yacuma province, set on the Yacuma river in the Llanos de Moxos, the great seasonally-flooded plains that stretch across the Beni. It is known as a cattle town, the heart of a region of green prairies, wetlands, rivers and forest islands, rich in birds and wildlife. The town began as a Jesuit mission, founded in 1719, and the Movima people and their language are still part of local life. It lies well to the north of Trinidad, the department's capital. Santa Ana del Yacuma is reached by air into its airport and by river and road across the plains. The climate is hot and tropical, with a marked wet and dry season.
