LBJ is the airport code for Komodo International Airport at Labuan Bajo, a harbour town on the western tip of Flores in the East Nusa Tenggara region of Indonesia. Labuan Bajo is the main gateway to Komodo National Park, the UNESCO-listed reserve famous for its Komodo dragons, superb diving and snorkelling, and the rare pink-sand beaches on Komodo and Padar islands. The town itself has grown into a lively base with a busy harbour, hillside viewpoints and sunset spots, and the airport now receives multiple daily flights from Bali and Jakarta, the Bali hop taking little more than an hour. From Labuan Bajo, most sights are reached by boat, on day trips or multi-day liveaboard cruises through the islands. The dry season, roughly April to November, is the most popular and settled time to visit.
