Antalya Airport (IATA: AYT) is Turkey's busiest airport outside Istanbul, handling over 40 million passengers a year and serving as the primary gateway to the Turkish Riviera. It sits 13 km northeast of Antalya's historic Kaleiçi old town and 15-30 minutes by taxi from most city-centre hotels. The airport operates two active terminals — Terminal 1 for international arrivals and Terminal 2 for domestic and some EU/low-cost carriers — with a shuttle bus linking the two (every 10-15 minutes). A third terminal, T3, opened in 2025.

Getting to and from Antalya Airport
The summer schedule is dominated by European budget and charter airlines — easyJet, Pegasus, AnadoluJet, TUI, Ryanair, Eurowings, and a long list of Russian and Central Asian carriers all run high-frequency service. Off-season (November-March) schedules shrink but Turkish Airlines and Pegasus keep Istanbul (IST, SAW) hourly, plus daily direct service to most major European capitals. Long-haul international direct flights are limited — most North American and East Asian arrivals connect via Istanbul.

Ground transport to Antalya city and the resort belt: metered taxis from the arrivals rank cost TRY 500-700 to Kaleiçi (15 minutes), TRY 1,500-2,500 to Belek, Kemer, Side, or Alanya resorts (30-90 minutes). Pre-booked private transfers are better value for resort belt runs — typically TRY 800-1,500 one-way depending on destination. The HavaŞ airport shuttle bus runs hourly to the Antalya bus terminal and Kaleiçi for about TRY 80. Uber does not operate in Antalya; BiTaksi is the local ride-hail alternative and works from the airport. Car rental desks (Avis, Budget, Hertz, Sixt, Europcar, Enterprise, Alamo) cluster in the arrivals hall — if you're using Antalya as a base for day trips to Aspendos, Termessos, Side, Olympos, or further afield, a rental makes sense.

Practical info & when to visit
Arriving international travellers from visa-exempt countries walk straight through — no stamp needed, just a passport scan. E-Visa holders should print the approval (many airlines require it at check-in). Summer arrival peaks (06:00-08:00 and 21:00-23:00) can stretch arrivals-to-kerb to 60 minutes; off-peak is 20-30 minutes. The airport is safe, well-signed in Turkish/English/Russian/German, and has a full retail and dining layout in both terminals.
