YHC is the airport code for Hakai Pass, more precisely a small airstrip serving the Hakai area on the Central Coast of British Columbia, in western Canada. This is a remote, roadless region of islands, channels and rainforest along the Pacific coast, within the Great Bear Rainforest and near the Hakai Luxvbalis Conservancy, the largest marine protected area on the British Columbia coast. The area is renowned among anglers for its superb salmon fishing, and among wilderness travelers for its wild beaches, kayaking, wildlife and dramatic coastal scenery. There are no towns here, only wilderness and a scattering of fishing lodges and the lands of the Heiltsuk and other First Nations. Hakai is reached by small aircraft and by boat, typically as part of an arranged lodge or wilderness trip, weather permitting. The climate is cool, wet and maritime, with a milder, drier summer season.
