XSP is the airport code for Seletar Airport, Singapore's second airport, in the northeast of the island. Much smaller and quieter than the huge Changi Airport, Seletar handles general aviation, private and business jets, flight training and some scheduled turboprop flights to regional destinations. It has a long history, having been built as a Royal Air Force base in the 1920s, and the surrounding area retains colonial-era black-and-white bungalows, now part of the Seletar Aerospace Park, a hub for the aerospace industry. For most travelers Singapore is entered through Changi, but Seletar serves niche and regional air traffic. Beyond the airport, Singapore is a dynamic city-state famous for its cultures, gardens and food, from Marina Bay to Chinatown and Little India. Seletar is reached by road across the island. The climate is hot, humid and tropical year-round.
