TTJ is the airport code for Tottori Airport, on the Sea of Japan coast in Tottori Prefecture, the least populous prefecture in Japan, in the country's San'in region. The airport is nicknamed the Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport, after its two claims to fame: the Tottori Sand Dunes, a remarkable stretch of shifting coastal dunes that is one of Japan's most unusual landscapes, and Detective Conan, the hugely popular manga and anime whose creator, Gosho Aoyama, comes from the prefecture. The airport itself is themed around the character. Beyond the dunes, the area offers the scenic San'in Kaigan coast, the nearby Sand Museum with its carved sand sculptures, seafood such as snow crab, and the mountain of Daisen inland. Tottori is reached by flights from Tokyo to its airport and by rail along the coast. The climate has warm summers and cool winters, with snow possible in the colder months.
