TDX is the airport code for Trat Airport, a small airport in Trat province in eastern Thailand, near the Cambodian border on the Gulf of Thailand. It is best known as the gateway to Koh Chang, Thailand's second-largest island, and the surrounding islands of the Mu Ko Chang National Park. Koh Chang is a mountainous, rainforest-covered island with sandy beaches, waterfalls and coral reefs, more laid-back than the country's busiest resorts, while nearby Koh Mak and Koh Kood offer even quieter, palm-fringed shores. The airport, operated by Bangkok Airways, has a distinctive open-air, garden-like terminal and handles flights from Bangkok. From Trat, road transfers and ferries carry visitors on to the islands. Trat town itself is a modest provincial centre with an old wooden quarter. The climate is tropical, driest and best for the beaches from around November to April.
