Sunchales is a city in the province of Santa Fe, in the center-west of Argentina, in the heart of the country's great dairy country. It lies on the fertile plains of the Humid Pampa, in the so-called central milk basin, the richest dairy-farming region of Argentina, and is famous above all as the birthplace and home of SanCor, one of the largest dairy cooperatives in the country. Founded by immigrant farming families, Sunchales is a prosperous, orderly town built on cooperative traditions, surrounded by the flat, green farmland and cattle country of central Santa Fe. It is a working agricultural and industrial city rather than a tourist destination, on National Route 34, northwest of the provincial capital, Santa Fe. Sunchales is reached by road, and by air through the region's airports, such as at Rafaela and larger cities. The climate is temperate, with hot summers and mild winters.
