MPB is the airport code for the Miami Seaplane Base, a small public seaplane base on Watson Island in Miami, Florida, in the United States, just east of downtown across the water from the city. It is not a conventional airport but a base for seaplanes and amphibious aircraft, sitting beside the MacArthur Causeway between mainland Miami and Miami Beach. Watson Island was for decades the home of the historic Chalk's flying-boat service, which flew from here to the Bahamas for many years, and the base is still used by seaplane and charter operators for scenic flights and hops across to the islands. Miami itself is the great sun-and-sea city of South Florida, famous for its beaches, its Art Deco district on Miami Beach and its Latin American culture. The main airport for the city is Miami International Airport. The climate is warm and tropical, with a hot, wet summer and a hurricane season.
