The nearest airport to Lund, in southern Sweden, is Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) in Denmark, which, though in another country, is only about thirty-five minutes away by direct train across the Oresund bridge. Malmo Airport is closer in distance, to the southeast, but has fewer connections and no direct train. Lund itself is a beautiful, ancient university city in the region of Skane, just northeast of Malmo, in the far south of Sweden. One of the oldest cities in the country, it is famous above all for Lund University, one of Scandinavia's oldest, and for its great Romanesque cathedral, dating from the twelfth century. Lund is reached easily by train, with its central station, Lund C, on the main line between Copenhagen, Malmo and Stockholm. The climate is mild for the latitude, with cool summers and grey, chilly winters.
